Local Business of the Week: Timber Post Bed & Breakfast

Sometimes we just need to get away from our house, have a change of scenery, leave the kids with the babysitter, and forget about the piles of laundry. Whether we want a little reprieve ourselves or we have family visiting from out of town, we always turn to the Timber Post Bed & Breakfast in Hollis. This historic colonial home, built in 1774, has been meticulously and lovingly turned into a retreat from the hustle-and-bustle of the everyday. Yet, it is a convenient six miles from downtown Nashua, less than half-an-hour to the Boston-Manchester Airport, and less than an hour to Boston. This makes it the perfect spot for all things business and pleasure!

Demystifying the Home Buying Process with Heeter Home Team and HarborOne Mortgage

So, you’re planning on buying a home but the process seems so much more complex than when you buy a new outfit at the mall! We are here to demystify the process, and really break it down for you step-by-step. In the weeks to come we will be breaking these steps down even further by dedicating a video to each one. That way, if you would like further clarification on one step of the process, you will have it. Fatima Aljic and Marie Bernard, two Buyer’s Specialists with the Heeter Home Team are joined by a HarborOne Mortgage loan officer, Corey Bowman to go over what the home buying process looks like. They’ll take you all the way from pre-qualification to closing, the financing options available to you, and the difference between a “customer” and  “client” in real estate.

Southern New Hampshire Weekly Events 7/17-7/23

As promised, here is your list of fun events going on this week in Southern New Hampshire. Everything from kid’s art workshops to wine tastings to outdoor yoga classes are listed below!

Friday, July 17th

  • ARTalk Online - Mapping Manchester: Larissa Fassler hosted by Currier Museum of Art

While in residence at the Currier Museum in the summer of 2019, Larissa Fassler explored the neighborhoods surrounding the Currier and was inspired to create large-scale drawings featuring Manchester’s downtown core. Join Fassler and curator of contemporary art Samantha Cataldo for a discussion of the artist’s work and methods, as well as a sneak peek of the new drawings which will be revealed in an exhibition at the museum later this year.

The event will be held on July 17, 2020 at 12pm. This free, live online conversation will be offered on Zoom (limited to the first 100 participants). Participants in the Zoom webinar will be able to engage with the artist and ask questions. The talk will also be livestreamed on the Currier’s Facebook page for unlimited viewing.

Larissa Fassler (Canadian; lives in Berlin, Germany) is interested in the symbiotic relationships between people and places. Her work investigates the architecture of cities and the way in which places affect people – psychologically and physically. Fassler’s on-the-ground research approach involves sketching and note-taking, and she uses this information to create art that combines maps, text annotations, and imagery.”

Local Business of the Week: Kyla Feeney with PMI Granite State

We all hear of what a great investment Real Estate can be - especially income earning properties. However, if you already feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day, the idea of adding another property to your plate that you have to maintain, fill with tenants, and track financials on can be overwhelming! We have members of Heeter Home Team who own rental properties, and they can attest to feeling this very same way. That’s why we recommend and rely on Kyla Feeney at PMI Granite State to manage your and our properties. In simple terms, a property manager will market your property, perform tenant screening, keep up with property maintenance, provide financial reports, and yes - they’ll even collect your rents for you. This may seem like a lot of responsibility to hand over to someone else when you’re the one with the financial investment in the property, and it is! That’s why using a reputable and reliable property manager, like Kyla, is so so important.

Pre-registration (via EventBrite link BELOW) ends July 10, 2020. Geared toward cyclists who may be hesitant to ride with cars -- casual cyclists, people rediscovering cycling, and even seasoned cyclists will find something to learn from this clinic led by League of American Bicyclists-certified Bicycling Instructors. The clinic will start with a review of good biking habits and practicing bike handling skills on a "closed course" (parking lot), where instructors will review the rules of the road. Then participants will be led on a short ride (3-5 mi) to practice the skills we've learned riding on downtown streets with other vehicles.

Due to COVID-19, the State of New Hampshire has issued guidance to conduct outdoor activities in groups of 10 or less. Therefore, this clinic is limited to 8 participants; adults and teens 14+ with a parent or guardian are encouraged to attend. At least 4 pre-registrants are required for this clinic to take place, so invite a friend!

YOU MUST REGISTER USING EVENTBRITE LINK BELOW.

Participants must already know how to ride a bike, bikes must be in good working order (air in tires, brakes, shifters and chain reliable); helmets are REQUIRED for the clinic.

Rain date: In the event of persistent rain, clinic will be postponed to Tuesday, July 14, same time and place.

Recommended: bright clothing, front and rear lights/reflectors, and a great attitude!

This is a 2+ hour clinic. Please be self-sustained. Bring everything you might need for this ride (food, bars, water, tools etc).

There likely will be no public bathrooms. Plan accordingly.

Other (COVID-related) details:

Masks (mouth & nose coverings) are required of all participants.

We will follow CDC-recommended social distancing protocols, maintaining a 6+ ft separation as much as possible.

We recommend carrying hand sanitizer.

If you have any signs of illness, or are caring for someone who is ill, DO NOT participate.

Questions? Contact the clinic organizer through BWANH - email: info@bwanh.org

It starts off exciting as you picture those beautiful freshly painted rooms in design magazines, only to quickly become overwhelmed as you realize there are about a hundred shades of gray...and blue...and yellow! If you’re a DIYer who just needs some direction, she can help with that! If you need someone to help with space design and the process of actually pulling it all together, she can help with that too!
